Home Assistant Google integration

Privacy notice

Personal use only. This OAuth application supports one self-hosted Home Assistant installation operated for the owner's household. It is not intended or offered for use by other people, and no public signup or support is provided.

Google information accessed

When authorized by the owner, the integration uses Google Home and Nest API permissions to read information about selected compatible homes and devices, operate supported selected devices, manage the integration's required service/subscription setup, and receive event notifications through Google Pub/Sub. Google account authorization is used to establish this connection. The app does not access Gmail or Google Drive.

How information is used

Google API information is used only to provide the owner's Home Assistant device-status, control, and event features. It is not sold, used for advertising or profiling, or used to train AI/ML models. It is not shared with other people or unrelated services.

Where information is processed and stored

Google processes authentication and API requests. The Home Assistant integration processes returned device information and events on the owner's self-hosted homelab. Home Assistant may retain data in its configured database, logs, and integration configuration, including OAuth credentials needed to maintain the connection. The owner controls that system and its retention settings. Google handles information submitted to its APIs under Google's own terms and privacy notices.

Retention and deletion

Information in Home Assistant is retained according to the owner's configured database and log retention. To stop future access, the owner can remove the Google integration from Home Assistant and revoke its grant in Google Account security settings. The owner can then delete any retained Home Assistant records or backups under their control. Revocation does not automatically erase Google's own service records.

Security and intended audience

The system is intended for the owner's personal use and is protected as a private Home Assistant installation. No online service can guarantee that unauthorized access or data loss will never occur. Google Production status may allow any Google account to attempt the consent flow; it does not create an owner-only restriction. No other users are invited or supported.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
