Personal homelab project
Home Assistant Google Home and Nest integration
This Google OAuth project connects one self-hosted Home Assistant installation to Google Home and Nest services. It is operated for the owner's personal household and homelab.
Not for other users. This is not a public service, product, or signup program. Other people are not invited or supported to use this OAuth app. The Google Production audience setting, if enabled, does not itself enforce an owner-only allowlist.
What it does
After the owner authorizes their Google account, Home Assistant uses the Google Home and Nest APIs to display or control the selected compatible devices and to receive device/service updates. Google handles the sign-in and authorization flow. Home Assistant runs on the owner's own hardware.
Google data used
The project requests Google Home/Nest device and service permissions, including the permissions required for selected-device access and event delivery through Google Pub/Sub. The actual permissions shown by Google at authorization are the ones to review before granting. This project does not request Gmail or Google Drive access.
Data handling
Google processes account authorization and the API requests. Home Assistant processes the returned device information and events on the owner's self-hosted system, where its configured database, logs, and integration configuration may retain data. This project does not sell data or use it for advertising, profiling, or AI training. No other users are onboarded.
